At Adsum, volunteers play a key role in program delivery, and in the many services available to the women, children and youth who seek our assistance.

From fundraising to household operations, we rely on volunteers to support us in a variety of capacities.

We are fortunate to have a dependable network of volunteers filling a number of positions, but we are always seeking new applicants. Please note that these are not direct client service opportunities.

Weekly/ Monthly Volunteer Opportunities with Adsum House. Please note; the next Volunteer Orientation will be in January, 2015.

Lunch or Dinner Preparation Volunteer (Adsum House) - The menu is planned in advance to feed up to 20 people and all of the ingredients will be ready for you when you arrive. Volunteers assist with the preparation of lunches, dinners and weekend brunches.

Meals and Baking (Adsum House) - Prepare meals or baked goods at home and donate for use in specific meals.

Clothing Room Organizer (Adsum House) - DéjàVu operates like a regular clothing store – except the items are donated and completely free of charge! It is located at Adsum House, but is open to the public. Volunteers are needed to organize donations, coordinate outfits and help clients accessorize.

Donations Organizer- Household Room (Adsum House)- This room is a virtual warehouse of household items that are available to anyone in need – both Adsum residents and members of the community (upon request). Pots and pans, bedding, towels, small appliances,  utensils – our generous donors supply the Household Room with many of the basic items people need for successful housing.  We require someone to organize these items and provide an ongoing inventory of what is in stock, and what we need.

Cleaning (Adsum House) - Light Housekeeping or a great group project to do a good Spring Cleaning anytime of the year.

Other Opportunities

Special Event/Fundraising Volunteers - Much of Adsum's operations depend on the success of our fundraising events like the Successful Canadian Women's Dinner, Mystery Art Show & Sale, The Blooming Tea, Females Fore Females Golf Day and new events. If you are interested in sitting on an event planning committee or assisting with tasks at one of our annual events please contact kathy.mcnab@adsumforwomen.org

Development Workshops for Clients (Adsum House, Centre, Court and Alders) planned with our Programming staff, around various topics based on your skills such as resume writing, tax preparation, goal setting, arts and crafts, fitness classes etc.

Group Maintenance Projects (All locations) -  gardening, painting, cleaning etc. This can incorporate large groups of volunteers and be team building exercises.

Adsum offers flexible scheduling and an opportunity for you to use your talents to make a difference in the community.  Do you have a particular skill or interest that could benefit our organization?  If so, fill out our volunteer application and tell us about yourself!
