The Holidays at Adsum!

With the holidays approaching, we rely on the community to help make the season a little warmer, a little brighter.  We have prepared this wish list with a lot of people in mind. They include 80 women, children and trans* who stay in our shelter or live in one of Adsum's housing units every night of the year, as well as another 100 people we support on an outreach basis. We are also preparing for about 150 women and children who attend Adsum's holiday party and special meals.

We want the mothers we know to have holiday gifts for their children. It's important that moms be able to choose presents for their children from among the beautiful donations that we receive. If you plan to donate new toys or clothes to us, please do not wrap them; moms like to do the gift wrapping themselves.

Here are some ideas to help plan your holiday support for women and families at Adsum:

To ensure we have what we need for our community holiday party, if possible, please drop donations off at 2421 Brunswick Street by December 15.

If you like to cook or bake, here's how you can help.

  • Prepare a casserole or lasagna for 20 people. Please deliver it to Adsum House, 2421 Brunswick Street in a disposable baking dish with the date, ingredients and cooking instructions. This kind of donation is wonderful to have over the coming month - please call 902-423-4422 beforehand so we plan the date with you. Please keep all meals shellfish free to accommodate client allergies.
  • The days leading up to Christmas are full of activities. Homemade goodies are always a welcome treat. We love to receive donations of Christmas baking - please ensure the treats are nut-free to accommodate client allergies.

Thank you for your generosity! We wish you, your families and loved ones warmth and joy this holiday season and all year-round!
