Adsum Receives More than $20,000 from Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Campaign

Thanks to the combined efforts of Shoppers Drug Mart, its employees and its customers, women, children and female youth will have even greater access to shelter, services and programming through Adsum for Women & Children.  Supporting women’s whole health in body, mind and spirit, Shoppers Drug Mart’s 2011 Tree of Life fundraising campaign raised more than $20,000 for Adsum for Women and Children.

With more than 1,180 Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix stores across Canada participating in the four-week campaign, the tenth annual Tree of Life campaign will provide support to over 400 Canadian healthcare related charities. National in scope yet locally based, the Tree of Life campaign offers patients, customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to the organizations to ensure that resources and programming are available to meet the needs of Canadian women.  In the Halifax Regional Municipality, Adsum for Women & Children benefitted from the proceeds raised by customers and employees at nine stores.

“We are so excited about the success of this year’s Tree of Life campaign and what these funds will mean to our organization,” said Sheri Lecker, Adsum’s executive director. “The support of Shoppers Drug Mart, its employees and its customers will make a real and positive difference in the services we provide to hundreds of women and children every year.”

“The success of the 2011 Tree of Life campaign can be attributed to the support and commitment of our loyal customers and staff,” said Lorrie Dickey. “Shoppers Drug Mart has partnered with women’s health organizations at national, regional and local levels, in order to provide direct support, ensuring that essential funding, resources and education are available to meet the needs of Canadian women. We are pleased to present this year’s Tree of Life campaign proceeds to Adsum for Women & Children.”
