Programs & Services

Through Adsum's four locations a number of programs and services are available for women, children and female youth experiencing homelessness.

A major component of Adsum's work involves the delivery of programming at all four of our locations.  Program staff work with residents and tenants to develop practical and enjoyable activities.  Some of the programs facilitated at Adsum include budgeting, cooking, healthy communications, gardening, outings, and arts and crafts.  The aim of these programs is not only to provide women with the opportunity to gather together and have fun but to increase self-esteem, self-worth and the life skills needed to have success in finding and keeping safe, affordable housing.

The Household Room is located at Adsum House and it's a virtual warehouse of household items that are available to anyone in need - Adsum residents and tenants as well as members of the community (upon request).

Pots and pans, bedding, utensils, small appliances, towels - our generous donors supply Adsum's Household Room with many of the basic items people need when transitioning to independent living.  This service is available by appointment by calling Jillian MacDonald at 423-4422. To arrange for the donation of new or gently used items please call 423-5049.

DéjàVu is located at Adsum House (2421 Brunswick Street), but is also open to residents in the community. Inside you will find everything from casual wear to clothing and accessories perfect for a job interview.

To learn more about the clothing room, please phone Jillian MacDonald at 423-4422, or email householdco@adsumforwomen.org

Housing Support is another service Adsum provides to clients and members of the community. Thanks to pilot project funding, this year Adsum has a full-time Housing Support Worker helping to find safe and affordable housing for women and families.  If you'd like more information on this service please call Venessa Downing at 492-1575 or contact her by email at venessa.downing@adsumforwomen.org
